Une occasion de voir comment une formation peut influencer le style et la pratique.<\/p>\n<p><br \/>L\u2019Institut du Design de Chicago a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1944 par Lazlo Moholy-Nagy succ\u00e9dant au New Bauhaus et \u00e0 la School of Design.<\/p>\n<p>Moholy-Nagy \u00e9tait auparavant professeur au Bauhaus et promoteur de la Nouvelle Vision qui consid\u00e9rait la photographie comme une pratique artistique autonome avec ses propres lois de composition et d&#8217;\u00e9clairage et se distinguait de la Nouvelle Objectivit\u00e9 par une approche plus exp\u00e9rimentale. L\u2019originalit\u00e9 de l\u2019enseignement est qu\u2019il s\u2019inscrit \u00e0 la fois dans la tradition d\u2019exigence technique de la Straight Photography am\u00e9ricaine et dans libert\u00e9 et l\u2019exp\u00e9rimentation du Bauhaus europ\u00e9en.<\/p>\n<p>Harry Callahan et Aaron Siskind inciteront leurs \u00e9l\u00e8ves \u00e0 sortir du laboratoire pour documenter la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 sociale des rues de Chicago tout en exp\u00e9rimentant les principes du Chicago ID. Par un travail sur la forme et la mati\u00e8re, la lumi\u00e8re contribuant \u00e0 l\u2019articulation de l\u2019espace et de la forme, l\u2019expression artistique de la photographie vient de sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 faire \u00e9merger de nouvelles formes visuelles.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5>Yasuhiro Ishimoto<\/h5>\n<p>Yasuhiro Ishimoto est n\u00e9 \u00e0 San Francisco de parents japonais. Les vicissitudes de son statut nippo-am\u00e9ricain en pleine guerre l\u2019am\u00e8neront \u00e0 \u00e9tudier de 1948 \u00e0 1951 au Chicago ID. Leurs travaux sont souvent associ\u00e9s comme c\u2019est la cas avec cette exposition \u00e0 la Galerie Rouge r\u00e9pondant \u00e0 celle de Crane au Centre Pompidou.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5>Barbara Crane<\/h5>\n<p>El\u00e8ve d\u2019Aaron Siskind entre 1964 et 1966, elle perp\u00e9tue elle aussi l\u2019enseignement de l\u2019ID alliant tradition de la photographie am\u00e9ricaine et sensibilit\u00e9 exp\u00e9rimentale.
